Let me explain where this new beauty trend came from..and why it works.
I'm sure by now you've seen the new trend for concealing under eye circles (by using red lipstick of course!).
I believe this to be the original image that went viral
Now this concept didn't just come out of the blue, makeup artists have been using this trick for years! Just not quite as extreme. Have you ever seen those salmon concealers in the pros kits? Or in the pro stores? Exactly the same concept! The reason salmon is the preferred colour is simple, it's closer to a skin tone and therefore easier to blend in (I don't know about you but I swear I can always still see red when people use lipstick).
What is this sorcery? (how it works)
Another easier answer! All you have to do is take a look at a colour wheel to see why it works. Under eye circles often carry a lot of blue undertones, and what is opposite blue on the colour wheel? Orange! (Opposites on the colour wheel will cancel each other out on our face). That is why you use a green concealer to cover red.
I hope this quick post helped explain this trend! Thank you so so much for reading!
